Being Voluntold
One thing about the world of work is you’re frequently in a position where you have to do work that you’re not passionate or interested in. However, there are times when you’re given work in the form of a compliment to your skill or a training opportunity that you’re being told to do even when it has nothing to do with you. I’ve dubbed this being voluntold. This is where your boss needs something done that they don’t want to do and has delegated it to you. This happened to me last fall where I was asked to build a website for our team *sigh*. I was pretty annoyed and spent 3 months grumbling about it.
